We worked with Minnesota’s Pizza Hut franchisee to build a new 4,600 square-foot sports bar concept—the first of its kind in the state—near St. Cloud State University. Designed to cater to college students, the restaurant is situated in the ground floor of a multi-story condominium. In addition to the brand’s famous pizza and wings, it features pool tables, dartboards, and even a full-service bar.

Our Approach
The space was previously a bookstore, which meant it wasn’t originally designed to accommodate a restaurant. To keep the project on track, we navigated some particularly tricky challenges. Perhaps the most notable was venting the oven hood exhaust. Despite the restaurant’s first-floor location in the building, we successfully installed HVAC equipment on the roof and channeled the exhaust through the building’s additional four floors. We had built another franchise in the building, so we were familiar with its structure, as well as its tenants. By planning construction activities around high-traffic times, we were able to keep disturbances and interruptions to a minimum.

The Results
We wrapped up construction as planned, in June 2015, which allowed for a soft opening before the students returned to campus.
